Organization January - 2

I have to laugh at myself as I work on my January resolution to purge and organize my house. To say the least, I LOVE it! I know, weird. But seriously, there is something incredibly satisfying about getting rid of stuff I don't use and organizing everything else. I love the sense of completion. There is a beginning and an end. It ends in a clean organized space that is once again usable. So nice!

Today I went hog wild and did 3 different spaces! I figure I am just working ahead so the days I am out of town, I already have those days covered (actually, that is just my excuse- once I started organizing I couldn't make myself stop). So needless to say I spent all of the 2 hour 'nap time' and an hour after the kids went to bed doing 3 different projects.

Project one started with the grey counter. It is our junk area. Everything that we have no home for ends up  on the grey counter stacked up: mail, coupons, pens, returns, etc. It is horrible keeping it neat and clear. I need some kind of organization for mail that needs further notice, bills to be paid, and coupons, but I haven't gotten it figured out yet. Any suggestions or things that work for you?

Overall, MUCH better! Now, how to keep it this way?!
My second project was clearing the front of the fridge and making a specific place for the kids pictures. It still needs some work, but it was a good start.

Pics on top, kids toys on bottom front.

I really should invest in those frame magnets for the pics so it doesn't look as cluttered.
I bought some clips for the side of the fridge and memo pads. :)
My third & fourth project was clearing out and organizing the hutch and china cabinet. I cleaned out the drawers, donated a bunch of random stuff to good will, and now have some actual room in there to keep the stuff I use.

I need to really start using some candles!

Soooo  much more organized and usable.

All my wedding stuff in one place. :)
Overall it has been a very productive day- my favorite kind! :)

  1. Go grab the January copy of Better Homes and Gardens. They have a great article on organizing paperwork :). And when you are done, you can come to my house!!
