As part of my new years resolution I have been trying to de-clutter, purge, and organize my house. My goal to is to do something each day for the month of January. I don't have all the before and after pictures, but this a glimpse of some of my most recent projects.

Sad, but true. My silverware drawer was a disaster. This is actually AFTER I organized and cleaned it. Instead of tons of random stuff, now it is just measuring spoons, medicine cups, and scissors, and corn holders. Much better! |
I am sooooo happy with this one. I don't have a before, but this is super organized for me. I took the 30 pieces of paper that recipes were scribbled on and made one neat stack of 5x7 recipe cards, got rid of junk basket, and bought little hanger clips to hang invites and coupons. |
I even cleaned off the million pics and coloring pages. Now I just need a 5x7 recipe box to hold all my recipes. |
While I cleaned off the pics from one side, this is what it looked like before. (now to work on this side). Of course I will still need to put the kids treasured pics up, but at least I need to figure out a better way to organize it! Definitely still a work in progress. |

More pictures and kid's stuff- shocking! :) |
This is actually the organized cupboard. Before all kinds of stuff was piled in front of the bowls. |
In addition to working on the kitchen, I also started tackling the bedroom. The closet came first. I couldn't handle the shoes stacked everywhere and clothes piled where they fell off the hangers.
A glimpse of the beginning of the organizing process. Always have to make a mess before it gets better! |
My purchase in my bedroom was a $5 shoe organizer for over the closet door. It made a world of difference! |
Josh got some organization for his shoes too! |
The after picture. I LOVE clean and organized closets. I even organized my clothes by short and long sleeves, pants, and skirts. |
In addition to the closets in our room, I also worked on organizing the medicine cabinets. Whew, that was quite the project. It's amazing how much expired medicine and products you collect in 7 years!
The guest bathroom medicine cabinet. Organized by 'issue'. :) |
Under the sink- so nice! |
My medicine cabinet even had room to spare! |
1 Corinthians 13 has been my theme for this year so I remind myself each morning by posting it on my bathroom mirror. |
I even organized my dresser top and jewelry. :) |
Last but definitely not least! |
Now to the best part! The thing that jump started my organization frenzy- our new shoe bench and coat rack! :) It seriously is my favorite thing in my house right now! Josh's mom and Mike made it and stained it for us for Christmas. It makes me so happy how well it turned out and how beautiful it is. I love the organization that it creates at the front door. I no longer trip over shoes 24-7, the coats are hung, and I have a place to store mittens and hats. I LOVE IT! :) So that is my organization January so far. I am hoping that I have lots more to post in the next few weeks!
It looks so good Kelly!! love the boot/coat rack, great job! and good job with all your drawers and fridge stuff too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is surprising how satisfying it is once you get started. It's actually quite addicting. :)
