A hard day of digging in the dirt |
This week was full of yard work. We cleaned out the garden and that
included finding out that all the carrots that we thought were hopeless
causes were actually ready to be picked. The kids loved pulling them
out. They were fascinated that carrots 'lived in the ground' and 'were
dirty'. Today was our day to wash the carrots off and get them ready to
eat. The kids helped me wash them all. Caleb 'helped' by splashing
the water in the sink while trying to push Kayleigh off the chair;
meanwhile, Kayleigh was super helpful. She washed all the carrots for me. It was so
fun hearing her realizations, "Mom, there really are carrots under all
this dirt!" and "Yum, garden carrots actually taste good". She even
helped me long after the 'fun' wore off and it became a bit of work. I love seeing her follow through on a project with perseverance.

And having some fun too |

Ready for snack time |
Random tidbit- Caleb has become obsessed
with using our computers. He is either sitting next to me, on my lap, or
more recently, sitting with the computer by himself. He types, moves
the mouse, and looks like he totally is doing something productive. It
totally cracks me up. So cute! :).
